The Ghetto

Where the term “ghetto” was first used

The Ghetto

Made famous by Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, all Jews were forced to live here until the 18th century. Nowadays there are only1000 Venetian Jews left, 300 of which live in the area. But this beautiful, culturally rich and often under visited district demands attention.
